Western Rail Corridor Phases 2 and 3 – Public Consultation
This is an independent review and was commissioned in response to the commitment in the National Development Plan. It is being undertaken jointly by EY-DKM Economic Advisory Services and Mott MacDonald and will seek to establish whether there is an economic and financial case for the reactivation of the Western Rail corridor. The results of this research will be presented in the form of a Cost Benefit Analysis to the standard set out in the Public Sector Spending Code.
Phases 1 to 3 of the Western Rail Corridor are as follows:
Phase 1: Ennis to Athenry, facilitating Limerick to Galway journeys. This part of the line is in operation
Phase 2: Athenry to Tuam
Phase 3: Tuam to Claremorris
As Phase 1 is currently in operation, this review looks at the case for opening Phases 2 and 3.
